Consider this website as a repository of the work that I have compiled over last few years and is a test site for some of the gadgets that I have made with my Raspberry Pi's.
After being diagnosed with the chronic spinal condition Ankylosing Spondylitis at the age of 30 I was pensioned-off from my job a few years later. I had been working as a programmer, hence my interest in writing this website.
I married my Spanish wife in London way back in 1992(!) and have lived in Spain for the past 19 years. We bought this apartment on the Costa Blanca just before the Euro was introduced so we got it at a good price. We overlook the Mediterranean so the views are brilliant but we do have neighbours who can be a bit of a pain in the ass!
With my illness comes a lot of medication and there have been several complications in my condition over the years. I was prescribed Methotrexate when we moved here and I developed chronic pancreatitis which means I have to be very careful with alcohol. (I'm not supposed to drink at all but I have found that I can manage the occasional beer - no whisky though, or wine!) I also developed Diabetes as a result and have to take daily insulin injections. Last year they told me that the disease had developed into osteoporosis. As a result I take various medications, one of which is very expensive at over €300 per weekly injection. I was also given codeine to help with the pain and have been taking fentanyl for the last 4-5 years. What a sicko!
When we moved here I decided to start growing my own marijuana and it has been a very fruitful hobby over the years. I am still waiting for the Spanish to legalize it but it is more or less ignored by the authorities if it's for personal use. I have been buying seeds from Amsterdam they cloning them to get a year-round harvest. In fact I managed to stop buying from the local dealer many years ago.
I started playing around with my school-days hobby of electronics a few years ago and it really took off when I bought my first Raspberry Pi - a very cheap bare-bones computer which allows you to control electronic projects pretty much on the fly. I am still using the same soldering iron I bought when I built myself a Sinclair ZX81 back in the days.
When I'm not busy with the rest of the stuff I have been playing around with Ableton Live to try my hand at DJ'ing. It's all quite a lot and what with everything I keep myself out of mischief - or try to at least.
Sadly my labrador, JC, is no longer with us but I still go out every morning for a short walk in the mountains just inland from us near Altea Hills (on the map below).
I try to keep this website updated regularly and I have recently added a sort of blog section.
